‘One four all, and all four one!’ Indisputably ‘The Musketeers’ of the AutoPot range, PotDividers are a fun, faithful, four-fold factor that help to bring the very best out of young plants in our systems. Do you yield to their allure? T’would be folly to resist! For these handy inserts allow AutoPot growers to subdivide each of their pots into four compartments.

Why would you want to do that? Well, if the general (albeit accurate) answer of, ‘to get the absolute most out of your system’, is too vague for your liking then read on – because we’ve a whole host of reasons illustrated by our latest test grow using PotDivider.

Huit a minute! Eight plants on auto in two 8.5L pots?! Oui, oui, oui!

Over the last couple of months we’ve brought on some young tomato plants using PotDivider in easy2grow modules. And it’s been an absolute joy. Not least because of how busy things get in spring with sowing, vegging, and setting up of systems. Under the circumstances, the last thing you need to be doing is faffing about hand watering. Especially with small plants.

Traditionally you’d use pots of 7cm upwards to house rooted young plants. Lots of them. Individually potted on garden trays. And trying to get water to all of these pots when they’re tightly grouped, without knocking things over or splashing all over the leaves, can be a nightmare.

If you spread out the loose pots you take up space in which you could be setting up your system. Worse still, by spreading the pots out for access your climatic inputs become less efficient. By putting the small plants into Pot-Divided easy2grow or 1Pot watering Systems you can eliminate this whole messy scenario.

The modules in a Pot-Divided system function in exactly the same way as usual, just with each pot split into four. So, water is still introduced automatically into the tray beneath the pots, meaning you’ve no access issues to worry about.

Because the pots are divided up they’re just the right size for young plants which might otherwise struggle if placed straight into a system. In this sense PotDivider also adds a tremendous amount of value to your existing AutoPot kit.

For the minimal additional cost of the PotDividers you stand to make your system truly dual-purpose. It’s no longer just a case of wheeling out the system for full grown plants, you can now use it for all but the very earliest stages of development.

Having germinated Orange Pinocchio and Red Raindrop seeds from Tomato Revolution in Root Riot cubes we transplanted straight to the Pot-Divided pots of the easy2grow modules after just a few weeks. The plants in their cubes were made at home in Biobizz Light Mix – negating the need for any feed for 4-6 weeks at least.

Because tomatoes thrive when ‘banked-up’ there was no need for a great depth of grow media to start with. We could place the rooted plants quite deep in the pots and add media around them as they grew.

Handily, the PotDivider includes a perforated base that removes the need for a drainage layer in the bottom of the pot. The base lifts the grow media away from the water supply and gives the roots space in which they can grow out and seek irrigation on their own – rather than having them sit in a saturated substrate.

And hey presto! Eight plants all automatically watered in each easy2grow module. We gave ours a few weeks of growth there, busying ourselves with other tasks, before demonstrating PotDivider’s stunning coup-de-grace.

Extraction is very much PotDivider’s finishing flourish. Removing the insert is an immensely satisfying moment. The PotDivider simply lifts out with four beautifully neat, burgeoning plants, perfectly segmented in all their glory. Because you can do this without handling the plants directly you really do get time to admire the roots and appreciate the progress made. ‘Pleasing’ does not begin to cover it. From there each plant can move onto its own full sized pot.

Where do you put that one-plant, full sized pot? Right back in the module you were using for young plants of course. Because the modules supply water in direct response to the demands of the plants you do not need to adjust anything at all. Just add feed to the reservoir at a rate that suits your plants and your choice of fertiliser.

It doesn’t even stop there. If you’ve got quick-to-crop plants that just don’t require the run of a whole pot then ‘pop a PotDivider, inside her’ (your pot) and off you go. Yet more functionality!

Embracing division as a means of bringing life together. It’s probably no exaggeration to say that PotDivider is what the world has been waiting for. Get yours now. Divide and rule.
