When it comes to CO2 we always seem to be talking about what we stand to gain from our symbiotic relationship with plants. Like placid little chefs, the green things of this earth are forever serving up lashings of deliciously vital oxygen. We breathe the oxygen, live, love, and laugh. We rightly ballyhoo the crucial role vegetation plays as a repository and processing facility for carbon dioxide. But consider the plants for a moment. They really, genuinely like that stuff. And if we are so grateful for the job they do then maybe we could give them something extra back? With that in mind we’ve found perhaps the perfect gift for your indoor greenery.

This is just a sneaky peek! Under normal circumstances the lid should remain on at all times

Ideal for fast-growing, carbon dioxide-hungry crops, the MotherNature CO2 Generator more than doubles the ppm of carbon dioxide found in normal atmosphere. It’s just what they’ve always wanted! The complete, self-contained kit is designed to operate in sealed grow room environments such as greenhouses or grow tents. It stimulates vigorous growth and is proven to increase productivity.

Carbon dioxide is essential for photosynthesis during all stages of plant growth, but is especially in demand during fruiting and flowering. Thanks to its simple but innovative pump system the MotherNature CO2 Generator can rapidly rise to the challenge of increasing CO2 concentration as and when required. By ‘rapidly’ we mean boosts from around 550 to 1100 ppm in just a few minutes, as demonstrated in a 1.2 m2 Budbox grow tent with air circulated by an oscillating fan.

In bench tests at AutoPot HQ we’ve taken readings of around 8000 ppm from the end of the Generator air line exhaust pipe, achieved within just a few seconds of switching on. Here the key benefit of the CO2 Generator becomes clear. As opposed to CO2 bags which constantly emit carbon dioxide from a vast number of small holes, the Generator offers complete control over when CO2 is produced and in what direction it is aimed.

The pump that’s attached to the base of the unit is designed to be plugged into a lighting timer/relay as it is ideally activated in synch with your lighting regime. When your lights come on so does your CO2 Generator – in line with your plant’s natural needs. During ‘lights-off’ periods the Generator switches off and active CO2 producing bacteria come to life within it, re-energising the bucket. For optimum performance we recommend use at a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius / 71.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Ideally Generators should be stored at 15 degrees Celsius / 59 degrees Fahrenheit when not in use.

as continued, unprotected exposure to high CO2 levels can be harmful to humans

Setup is an absolute doddle, beyond plugging in all you really need do is route the supplied air line exhaust to the back of your circulation fan in order to distribute the CO2 evenly throughout the growing environment. As carbon dioxide is heavier than air it’s well worth positioning the fan and air line higher up, allowing the CO2 to fall over the plants.

Available now in the UK via AutoPot Stockists and, the CO2 Generator comes in 5L and 10L sizes, capable of covering spaces of up to 1.2 m2 or 2.4 m2 respectively. Either size grants you up to six months of gloriously enhanced growth, for more information check out our listings here!
