Las Vegas. Bright lights, big city. Very big city to our pint-sized pal Dan Gulliver, whose favour I shall now regain by respectfully including his title: AutoPot Business Development and Marketing Director. Yawn. Purpose of visit? Other than not getting lost / falling down plug holes, Dan was on an eagerly anticipated mission to call upon existing and potential customers in Las Vegas. An eye-opening feast for the eyes included trips to Green Coast, Grow Generation and The Grove – the latter of whom are now achieving record yields with their Auto9 XL Systems.

For cultivators like The Grove record yields are essential given the scale and exponential growth in demand for MMJ. In states with legal MMJ programmes like Nevada production, and the capacity to increase production, is an ever present

consideration. It’s really great to be able to assist cultivators in raising the bar and achieving their goals in a legal climate so conducive to progress. Therefore it was absolutely our pleasure to devote a full three days to our clients in Vegas. As Dan gently sped away to central valley California he could reflect on an immensely positive and promising sojourn.

The Californian leg of the trip didn’t just take Dan west, it took him in directions that aren’t even on the compass, mainly because these directions pertain to horticultural innovation. But still, a brave new world of enterprise awaited. Foremost on Dan’s itinerary was a potential commercial client for whom we have developed a 20 site tray system. Each of the client’s sites is set to be filled with triple tiered racking for ultra high density cultivation. Once up and running this will be one of the largest indoor facilities in the world. We are currently trialling a ‘pot-less’ system for them to utilise which does not require loose fill substrate and pots.

Also casting aside the shackles of earthly substrate, Dan jetted on to Portland, Oregon aboard his G6 for the Indo Expo. This is one of our favourite shows in the US. The organisers do a fantastic job of both attracting and supporting exhibitors and drawing a great variety of visiting domestic and commercial cultivators. Needless to say we had some very fruitful conversations as a result. The state of Oregon presents growers with the optimum environment for cultivation outdoors and in the greenhouse. This meant our new, larger pot system ft easy2GO and PlantSkirt was of particularly intense interest.

Having teed up so many auspicious relationships Dan repaired to the G6 for the hop back to Vegas directly after the show. Landing at midnight he was whisked away from any late night mischief by his chaperones who did permit him a midnight round of golf before bedibyes and the (chartered!) flight (the indignity!) back home the next morning.
