AutoPot USA – Mathew Freistadt

AutoPot USA’s team is about to get bigger and better! That’s great news for commercial growers, stores, and end-users given the phenomenal expansion the company has been experiencing over the last year or so. This month Mathew Freistadt comes aboard as Mid-West Rep, sharing and developing what has become a formidable, albeit entirely welcome, workload for the existing team. Mat also brings a diverse skill set and some unique perspectives to the table, helping APUSA further enhance their expertise.

Mat’s background is that of a Research Chef with a natural, holistic, longstanding love of hydroponics and gardening. His early creative career in culinary arts included stints at the Four Seasons Hotels and Aquavit, with globally acclaimed Chef Marcus Samuelsson. From there he progressed to become the corporate global chef of American Airlines. 

As a member of the Research Chefs Association, Mathew utilized his creativity while learning the science behind the food we eat. His work as an innovative leader within the food manufacturing community was duly recognized by global brands such as McDonald’s, Heinz, Tyson and Tesco.

Fast forward to around 2015 where Mathew begun his research into hydroponics and found AutoPot Watering Systems. He began growing herbs, cucumbers and other vegetables utilizing the versatility the AutoPot Watering Systems had to offer before transitioning into legal cannabis cultivation. 

Mat quickly formed a friendship with AutoPot Global M.D. Jason Ralph-Smith and APUSA Sales Director, Manny Pelaez. His determination and ability to absorb as much data and science behind growing with AutoPot came full circle when he was working on a project for Tesco in the UK and visited with Jason at the AutoPot Research Facility. 

Whether professionally or personally, Mat has now been cultivating in AutoPot Watering Systems for almost a decade. “AutoPot is like a second family for me” says Mathew. Through his innate skill, understanding, and the ‘familial’ AutoPot connection, Mat has grown his network within the cultivation community to a global scale in a short space of time. Even his son Brody (age 5) is already inducted into the AutoPot community, having produced a perfect round Heirloom Tomatoes in the Auto3XL Tray System.
