Oh what joy it was to see Europe’s most renowned cannabis cultivation expo back to it’s Spanna-blissful old self this March. The Feria filled once again with exquisite stands from the finest purveyors of horticultural innovation, like small plates waiting to be nibbled at by the resurgent crowds. AutoPot in attendance, keen to go a-nibbling and to be nibbled at ourselves, tasting the vibe, dishing up delights, sending back morsels of news on the latest tastes in cultivation.
Very much the Napoleon of nibbling (although not THAT short, and much taller than his brother) Dave Gulliver, our all-conquering International Sales Manager, picked up his vegan chorizo and scribbled us a missive or two, which, dear reader, we shall now share with you.
By Dave’s reckoning this year’s instalment was only marginally below capacity and a huge step up from recent shows. This is an encouraging sign as Spannabis is frequently seen as the place where cultivation professionals from around the world come to interact with the European cannabis marketplace. If Spannabis is bustling it’s a strong indication that the will to reengage in-person is there for the horticultural industry. Ever the expo dynamos, our reps in attendance were delighted to find that the customary long hours of Spannabis were back with a vengeance, packed with productive and intriguing meetings.
Though rich with nutrient and substrate producers and liberally peppered with seed companies, Spannabis remains underrepresented by irrigation tech. This is a recurring cause of bamboozlement at AutoPot. It seems unbelievable that other companies should miss out given the magnitude of interest in systems we get from a very broad spectrum of growers. The show is also a key opportunity to see how our products can mesh with other forms of grow room technology.
Climatic controls, lighting, grow tents, vertical grow racks, the very latest in all these cultivation sub-sectors are regular fixtures at Spannabis, just begging to be integrated with advanced means of irrigation and feeding. Happily we did just that, joining forces with Montel, Budbox, and Lumatek on our stand. It’s a privilege to be able to combine with such industry leaders in this way as it really helps visitors visualise the possibilities with our systems. Better still our chums from Montel and Budbox converged on-stand in-person to catch up and offer their advice to lucky visitors.
Like a bog full of Bollinger our team were flushed with victory come the end of the show. For all their formidable efforts karmic compensation now awaited. Firstly in the shape of wonderful hospitality at the Dank of England Coffee Shop to whom we extend our sincere thanks. Whether it’s for plants or reps Mills always seems to provide something delicious and stimulating, Barcelona was no exception. Our lads very much enjoyed ‘a lovely dinner’ courtesy of the windmill-fancying substrate and nutrient maestros. This time it’s not just thanks, we’re going big on congrats too! Plaudits to our good friend Podgie from Expert Seeds won a deserved cup at the show. And that, as they say, is all she wrote.
